Events I’m speaking at…

Friday 30 January 2015 RUSI, Whitehall, London, 13.00 I am honoured to be addressing the members of RUSI and the Douglas Haig Fellowship about ‘Haig’s Enemy: Crown Prince Rupprecht of Bavaria’

Friday 13 March 2014 paper on the German Army in 1914 at ‘Armies in 1914’ study day

Tuesday 13 May, Birmingham Heroes Lecture, ‘Roads to War: 1914 Revisited’, Army & Navy Club London, 18.30

Friday 23 May, ‘Sleepwalking to War? Britain in 1914 and 1939’ Hay Festival,; 14.30 TBC

Tuesday 27 May, ‘Crown Prince Rupprecht of Bavaria and German High Command, 1914-15’, KCL Monarchies at War conference

Saturday 28 June, ‘”No plan survives contact with the enemy”: how everything went wrong for everybody on the Western Front in 1914’, Surrey WFA Conference, Dorking.

If you fancy spending some of your hard earned, I’m giving you 3 chances in the next few months to come and hear me drone on. Lucky you.

First, Tuesday 13 May at the Rag (Army & Navy Club) in St James’s Sq. London:
That is a fund-raiser for Birmingham alumni but I’m told everyone’s welcome.

Secondly, down in Welsh Wales on Friday 23 May it’ll only cost you £5 at the Hay-on-Wye Festival: where I’ll be talking about lessons learned in preparing for war between 1914 and 1939.

Thirdly, back in the Home Counties, on Saturday 28 June I’m talking in Dorking at a Surrey Western Front Association conference. £18.

If you fancy coming along to any of these, I can promise you’ll get a good snooze and it’d be nice to see a friendly face. Equally, I quite understand if cutting your toe-nails that day suddenly seems urgent.
